Training in Lithuanian and English aimed at improving the capacity of Lithuanian civil servants, politicians to represent the EU and preside over the EU

The aim of this training project implemented by ESTEP together with its partners, Ecole Nationale d’Administration (ENA, France) and the Institute of International Relations and Political Science of Vilnius University (VU IIRPS), was to prepare Lithuanian civil servants for the Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2013. During the project, training programs were developed for various target groups and trainings were conducted, addressing the topics “EU decision-making and implementation”, “Legal and institutional framework of the EU”, “EU sectoral policies”, “Negotiation and communication skills”. In total, 213 training sessions were organized in Lithuanian and English.

The training provided Lithuanian civil servants who joined the EU Presidency team in 2013 with the necessary knowledge, practical skills and confidence to operate successfully in the EU context. Lithuania’s presidency of the Council of the EU is considered to be one of the most successful.
